If only our younger selves had known

That promises are not made to be kept

But still they bathe us in false comfort and drown us in false hope.

If only I knew that on the day we

Promised,

Arranged,

Decided,

That when you never came while I waited

It was for that reason.

This time there was no "if only".

Just the inevitability of the end of lives.

Yet still I waited til darkness swam above me.

So now I'll join you,

Walking through the sea we promised to see

Towards the Heavenly Shore.
