The Battle Of Raven And Rook.

What was it that did occur
To stop you living together?
Something caused so deep a rift
It led to blood and feather.

Was there some boundary that was crossed
Some invisible kind of line
That was so unacceptable
Your peace it did decline?

You took to the air in hordes of black,
In super massive flocks.
You soared up high into the sky
From trees and then from rocks.

In formation you went to war
With winning on your mind,
A battle of supremacy
Waged for your own kind.

The sky is filled with many croaks
And oh so many caws,
Your slaughtering so audible
Even from indoors.

You swoop around in big long lines
Then suddenly you'll dive
To join in battle, beak and talon;
Will you come out alive?

The feathers they are raining down,
The bodies they do fall;
The ground is covered with black birds
Answering to their call.

With wings outspread and bloodied beaks
The attacking is so vicious,
Who would ever have believed
That birds were so malicious.

The air rings out with agony
As you peck and then you tear,
The victims laying in defeat
When it becomes to much to bear.

Then suddenly it's over
The war between raven and rook.
You take off back in to the skies
Perhaps you'd been mistook.

The price you've paid is heavy,
So many lives are lost,
You've sorted out your differences
But at a massive cost.
