"You promised. You promised you weren't going to leave me. Now you're gone. You left me like all the others. I knew I shouldn't have trusted you, but my heart didn't listen to my head. You promised you would always be there for me when I needed you most," By this time the girl was trying to hold back the tears, although I saw many escape her eyes. She closed her shocking blue eyes for a moment, before opening them again and facing the salty waves that lapped ashore and tickeled her toes, although not the slightest hint of a smile was visible on her face."

"Where are you now?" She whispered as the tears cascaded down her face.

I wanted to reach out and say, "I'm right here," but it wasn't that easy. We always said nothing could come between our love, but we were wrong. There was something stronger, I realized as my heart ached with longing just to be able to say goodbye, but it wasn't possible. I would watch her grow up, move on, and get over me, and there was nothing I could do to stop it.

Why did I have to die?
