Mink.

You really look kind of cute
With that black and glossy coat,
But it's a ruse,
A disguise,
I can see it in your eyes.

You are being cornered by a cat,
I'm going to have to bring him back,
Your mouth,
Those teeth,
And that horrible screech.

You are a lethal killer,
A hunter through and through,
Wanting blood;
Merciless,
You are completely remorseless.

I grab the cat, lift him away,
Give you a chance to escape,
You pause,
Hesitate.
Why in hell do you wait?

Then with a spring and a bound
You find a hole in a tree,
You pull yourself
Inside,
Turn back and deride.

A challenge to stop them all
Following you into the tunnel,
Where you wait
Lurking,
Intent on hurting.

A distraction is called for
So I'll bring out the treats,
It's a ploy,
But, oh boy,
A well needed decoy.

So please, Mink, just stay away,
Go back where you belong,
Go home!
Be distant!
And don't be persistent!
