when will you learn/ to stop ashin' with a heated passion in your grandpa's urn/ I can't discern in the midst of these trade winds/ between which set of waves does my faith end

in the middle of the cortez bank I dog paddle/ stress warped this brain, gorgeous pain I got rattled/ oh my angel please don't ascend now/ the sun swelters can't you get some helper to send down/

wading in the water and its the eleventh hour/ angel's gray eyes matches heaven's dour/ washed up ashore tumultuous waves leave a reverend scoured/ they over towered and they left me crying a sober coward

to the divine I'm not the most loquacious/ religion of old ages my spiritual homeostasis/ I'm bringing a blemished lamb to the altar/ guess my idle hands must've faltered

When I'm afloat when everybody's sinking I got hope

When you weigh a buck forty and you not buoyant/ when you're 25 your writing's not poignant / this makeshift raft is not exactly kontiki/ it's apparent that most of my life has gone bleakly

and rightfully so, supposedly stifling those/ who can't have an opinion if mine differs/ cut right to the heart with left-handed scissors/ walk in my shoes and please excuse the popped blisters

to be frank you just need to swim good/ if I just took your life vest and float like drift wood/ I would never have strength and I'd never know my limits/ while you play it safe I'll make swimmin the english channel look like a gimmick
