So Many Faces

You look at me through
Shielded eyes,
Wish I could see past
Your disguise.
Is there cruelty?
Is there kindness?
Trying to see but
It's like a blindness.
Should I trust you
Or is there harm?
Are you lying
To just disarm?
It's so blurry,
Never clear,
Who's to be trusted
And who to fear.
So many faces,
Expressions fake;
So complicated
A choice to make.
They say to look
Into someone's eyes
But I don't want to,
It doesn't seem wise.
How can I tell
If your smile is true,
Or is it to hide
Some evil in you?
Or are you really
As sad as you look,
Someone that misery
Has overtook?
There is a saying
About a cover and a book,
It's also true
About a look.
Everywhere
And every place
There's someone new,
A different face.
So mostly I'll
Just stay away
Because I don't know
What to say.
