My dog and I,

And a kite to fly,

Headed for the park

On Sunday.

It was a day meant for flying,

Or at least trying,

So we had decided to make it

A fun day.

When we got there

Dog saw a hare

And proceeded to chase it

Around.

I called to Dog

To call off the chase,

But he doesn't listen,

I've found.

So there I was

With my head all a-buzz,

Chasing the dog

While holding a kite,

Hoping the hare

Would find a hole

And avoid

A very bad bite.

Well sure enough

I fell on my duff

And the hare

He did find a hole.

I broke my kite

But that was alright

'cause there was glue in my pocket.

You Know?

I know what to bring

To mend kite and string,

(There were prior chases

With the dog and the hare.).

And when I launched the kite

And it flew just right

Along with the others

That was flying up there.

It turns out this Sunday

Was mostly a fun day

For Dog, for me,

In the park.

But Mom gave us trouble

And for us that goes double

'cause we both got home

Past dark.
