Is anyone here to catch him?

Or at least watch him slip away?

How many hours has it been?

So many monsters come and leave;

He opens the closet for them

Because they’re his only friends.

They make a mess and then they’re gone.

It’s monsters versus aliens;

The war is always on

So they never stay for long.

The boy sends out more invitations.

They have tea parties

And argue who’s most insane.

“What time is it?”

Boy tends to ask every day.

They never seem to reply

As they continue conversation.

Maybe they don’t know.

Maybe it’s a secret.

Boy tries to keep in touch with frequency waves:

“Mayday, mayday, is anyone out there?”

It makes him feel safe;

To imagine there’s a human awake

Or an alien out there in space

Listening to every word that he says.

Perhaps they will take him with them one day;

It’s his best bet.

Sometimes, the boy hears people;

But they must be sleep talking.

Everyone’s bumped their head;

They’re all in a coma, or simply just dead.

The world fell down too many times;

Too many to make sense.

It takes too much energy to survive

In a world that never dies-

In a war that never ends.
