Tybalt
The King's Son
I walked into the village and everyone was flinging mud at me as I ran. I thought, I wished I could be normal like the other children. I only have one friend, Zane and he's a slave.
My name is Tybalt, the prince of Middle Speed. My brothers and mother died from the Black Death, it is only me and my father now. I do not enjoy my father! He wants me to be king, and I do not!
I try to be nice to people, especially Zane, but sometimes my anger gets the best of me.
My father is very unkind, whenever I step out of line he has the guards whip me.
He has me train to be the next king, but since I only have one eye due to an archery accident, I am not very good at any of the physical training. I am very smart and I try to teach the slaves reading and writing.
My father is also losing power to merchants. It is hard, and I heard some rumors that a couple of the slaves are planning to assassinate my father. That means I might have to be king which is very bad! I just want to be normal!
We are hosting a very important dinner tonight. All the important people in the kingdom are coming, and Zane is the head serving slave for my father.
Zane walked into my room, he was shaking and he slowly told me he had to poison my father. I felt like my stomach was turning inside out.
Then angst came over me, I don't want to be king, my father is the only family I have left, I am only a boy, all my worries came to life." What should I do? we both said out loud. The dinner is tonight and I do not want my friend to get in trouble! I don't even want my cruel father to die.
So I tell him, he says" I have to!" So I start to think. There is silence, and 10 minutes later I think to myself: my father has only been bad to me, so I agree to a plan.
He will poison my father, then we have 15 minutes to get out of the castle, because it takes 5 minutes for paralysis to kick in, then at 10 minutes organ failure, finally death.
By then we have to be on our way to another manor, where we would act as serfs and live a normal life.
If we get caught I will take the punishment, because I will not get as hard of a punishment. Being the prince.
I walk into town with Zane for the last time and it turns out the serfs had planned to throw rocks me. Anger flooded through me and I throw a rock back, and so did Zane, which is why I needed to leave. The manner.
The rest of the day until the dinner, I went to the rest of my favorite places and said goodbye to the few people that did not make fun of me, and I did my one last job, to collect some hemlock from a tree in the forest for the poison.
Later that day, I was sweating, as red as a tomato, and I was more nervous then ever before.  As people walk in and out I was getting dizzy. It is hard to find Zane, with guards everywhere.
I spot Zane and I have to push and shove through the crowd to I get to him I hand Zane the hemlock and he puts it in my fathers food. I am ready to run as he gives the food to my father.
He walks away, then we both sprint through the kitchen door and grab our bags. We have to navigate through the people and we get lost a couple of times, but we still reach the draw bridge and we lower it.
I pay the stable boy for 2 steeds, and we start to ride. Soon, I say to Zane," It has been 15 minutes, the guards by now must have realized it was us," then we see them, and they start riding, running, and firing after us. We barely made it out with our lives.
We ride for 2 horrible days to a manor called Star. I become a glassblower's apprentice and Zane becomes a black smith's apprentice. We buy a hut together, because alone we could not afford it alone.
10 years later
Zane and I become powerful merchants and even one of us alone is as powerful as two kings. We had 2 times more land than my father ever had, and we had lived great, prosperous lives.
