I am but the eye of a storm
A calm... a cool breeze, before
The harsh wind with its shearing intensity
Rips through the air
A calm no more, to my despair

a mess of darkened thoughts and disdain
Brewing over the city in pain

Where secrets are guarded ...
Now cold cruel words pierce the veil of naivete

Wizening me to the thick mist of lies and deception
Used to shroud me in a blanket of obscurity
Scales fall away, light shines through

No longer am I a prisoner to your deceit
My heart no purer than before
But wiser than before the fall
