The Courtyard

The courtyard echoes
With desperate sirens
Grey skies bear crows in flight
Bitter chill sweeps in tendrils of blight

These cries! These cries!
Seep into the walls
"Keep away! You are doomed!"
The final convulsions that end too soon

The ghosts of so many
Do haunt this place
Of the ends met here, invisible stain
Blood washed into the grate, yet will remain

No hope, here - lies
No promise of help
Long I have walked here, no good do I see
And this, I insist, is no place for me
