A word thrown back

At my dreams

“Impossible”

An advice so called

To help me

“Don’t even try”

“You can’t do it”

Stained window

In front of me.

Outside a world so big

Is there really

No place for me?

Sharp words

Shattered glass

My heart is bleeding

What happened to

The fairy tale stories?

The encouraging mottos?

Grey clouds

Cut off sun’s beam.

A bird

Trying to fix her nest

Failing.

Injured bleeding wings.

Every day, every night

She tries to fly higher.

She ignores the pain

She adapts

To survive.

My heart becomes bulletproof

It hardens

So nothing can wound it

It freezes

So it numbs the pain

Indifference.

Apathy.

One day

When they realize

I no longer tell them anything;

I no longer care about their lives;

I build up a barrier between us.

Sorry

But

I adapt

To survive.
