Her poems are different
They're not scribbled down onto paper
To be plastered in a book on a shelf
They don't ring out strong with her voice
For her feelings to be shared with all
They're not held within her
A secret song waiting to be heard
They're engraved onto her arm
A permanent setting for her lonesome tale
The words as deep and flowing as the blood from her veins

Her pictures are different
They aren't painted on a canvas
Displayed in a museum for all to see
They aren't captured with a flash
Later placed into a pink album as a reminder of all that has happened
They are a myriad of scars
A railroad criss-crossing her arm
With a story buried under each

But her poetry is not for the world to read
her art is for a single pair of eyes
Her beautiful work is sheltered from the world
Hidden from those who inspire her
To write
To draw
To pour all her emotion, her heart and soul, into her work
A masterpiece the world will only see
When its creator's postmortem hands
Can no longer cover it
