The detective's eyes met mine with a dead stare. Clearly, he was confident in his interrogating abilities and had no doubt he'd crack me. He seemed like the kind of detective you'd want solving a murder case, not one like mine.

"Alright. I'm sure you know the drill. We can do this the easy way-"

"Easy way, please." The calm and relaxing tone in my simple response surprised him. His facial expression made that kind of obvious. His eyebrows dropped with his jaw, and he was speechless for a good 10 seconds. "Neither of us want to be in here much longer," I continued.

"Okay, uh, fine then." The angry and intimidating tone in his voice quickly evaporated as he realized I was cooperative. At least he thought I was cooperative. "Tell me what you know."

"Well, I know that the Earth is round."

He made a face that looked as if he'd just heard a bad pun. The buzzer on the outside of the interrogation room buzzed and he exited, only to return a brief moment later. When he re-entered the room, he gave me another dead stare, and then sat in the chair across from me.

"Back already? Was the espresso machine broken or something?"

"Alright, listen wiseass - you said to do this the easy way. So let's keep it like that so my associate over there doesn't have to come in and smashyour face into the table the hard way."

I decided I'd be cooperative this time around. Besides, this detective wasn't that bad of a guy. I didn't want to ruin his career like I did the last one.

"What do you want to know?"
