Dreams.

I fell into a world of dreams

Where logic came undone,

I wanted to fall further in,

A bit of harmless fun.

These dreams, they swirled around me

Then swallowed me up whole,

Far from life’s reality

They found for me a goal.

My thoughts were out of my control,

Didn’t know I was misled,

I wanted nothing more to do

Than live inside my head.

A twisting and a warping,

Reality unbinding,

These dreams embraced so willingly,

A mistake I now am finding.

These dreams, they made me promises

That they never could uphold,

I relished all the warmth they gave

And shut out all the cold.

But dreams, it seems, can never last,

There are nightmares too;

Waiting there so patiently

To bring sabotage to you.

This nightmare it came crashing down,

Taking all my hope,

The reality it’s bringing --

Don’t know if I can cope.

The blackness now has left me

To an endless swirling grey,

This misery, it’s hurting and

I wish it would go away.

But there are still these glimmers

As bits of dreams remain,

This time I’m going to hold them close,

I’ll voice them not again.

But now it’s not such fantasy

I’m keeping some control,

I’ll not be reaching for the moon,

It won’t eat up my soul.

I’ll try to keep it in check

With my feet upon the ground;

I guess I’ll manage anything

While I have you still around.

But never turn your back on me,

Don’t ever make this end.

I want you always in my life,

A very special friend.
