The Unattached

There is one

in Harvard Square

wagging a newspaper

at her forehead. Perhaps

the limb, arm and hand

grew strong of itself

raises the Crimson, crackling

and fluttering there to be

moth, ragged nothingness

begging in. She burns

into my mind, closes the distance

between there and somewhere

here, where I'm afraid

without reason. The constant

fluttering becomes flame

I might burn in.
