Everytime I close my eyes, I see nothing

no blue skies, no sunrise, just nothing

and that scares me, the thought of nothing.

Imagine everything you love, you would forget

there would be nothing to regret, there is nothing you won't forget

and that scares me, the thought of forgetting

The sound of silence, is all you will hear,

in the void, you will shed a tear,

but there is no hearing, no void, no tears,

only nothingness will you hear

Do you feel the cold embrace, touching your skin,

could it really be, could it be something?

no, it's just nothing.

I smell something, something cold and dark,

maybe this really is something, apart from nothing,

I had my hopes up, it's just nothing.

Everytime I open my eyes, I am relieved

I have survived the dreams, I breathe a relieved breath

that for now, I have survived death.
