Hi! This is one of the first poems I wrote once I got into poetry! I can't really explain my style of writing, so just roll with it :3

The Girl with her Toes in the Sand

I'm the kind of girl who likes her toes in the sand

No flip flops for me

I’d rather  feel like I’m in a book

I’m the kind of girl who was never able to climb trees

I like high places

but I’m afraid of heights

Don’t bother trying to tell me that doesn’t make any sense

I’m the kind of girl who might cry

Even if you never meant for it to be mean

It’s not your fault, I’d never let you see

You could never know

I’m the kind of girl who likes her toes in the sand

My hair doesn’t blow in the wind

Or anything like that because it’s too

short,

But I can still feel pretty standing there so calmly

I’m the kind of girl who wipes away the other’s labels

None of them fit me perfectly

So I just stick to who I am

I’m the kind of girl who’ll smile no matter what you say

I just want you to know

How much you mean to me

How special you are even if you don’t see it yourself

I’m the kind of girl who likes her toes in the sand

I’ll smear the wet sand with my toe

And scrape it off of the shells with my fingers

Letting the wind blow a salty breeze in my hair

I’m the kind of girl who cries for no reason

Or perhaps there is a reason

I don’t want you to see me and make me your problem

But at the same time, I wish you would look up

And see the tears

Even though they’re not visible

I’m the kind of girl who will go to Church

Not because I have to

Because I want to

And I’ll ask you to come and be with us

Because I want you to share in this joy

I’m the kind of girl who likes her toes in the sand

They’ll get all smudged up and dirty

But I won’t mind

I’ll just rub them in the grass and have sandy shoes

It’s worth the feeling

I’m the kind of girl who will wear jeans when she’s painting,

Splattering paint all over them

I won’t wash or replace them

I like how artsy they look

No, I’ll wear them proudly

I’m the kind of girl who thinks googly eyes are hilarious

And stick them on everything in sight

They make me laugh

Don’t make me explain this one to you

They’re hilarious

I’m the kind of girl who likes her toes in the sand

I’ll nestle them in like sandcrabs

And then I’ll pull them out

Because I’m scared of sandcrabs

You want to know why I do the things I do?

I can’t tell you

Because I’m not sure myself

All I can tell you is that I’m just my own kind of girl

I’m the kind of girl who gets depressed after she kills an ant

I’m the kind of girl who’ll drink 5 juice boxes in a row

I’m the kind of girl who’s not really sure if people take her seriously or not

I’m the kind of girl who’ll pet the dog at a party

I’m the kind of girl who’ll take a walk for an hour, but can run for like 2 minutes

I’m the kind of girl who gets really excited about little things

I’m the kind of girl who will keep cheese in my pocket

I’m the kind of girl who’s not afraid to admit that I love Jesus

I’m the kind of girl who’s not afraid to love and get close to people

I’m the kind of girl who will make you drive to Wendy’s at 1 am

I’m the kind of girl who is grateful to have a person

Just one person

That will understand her and tell her that it’s okay and mean it

I’m the kind of girl who likes her toes in the sand
