I think this is the part where we kiss
but its not the time for movie star glitz
not when there is more and more that I miss
about you, about me, all on the fritz

You move in close, whisper against my lips
“I haven’t known you in weeks, not since the oak
tree, and the fairy ring, my hands on your hips,
Remember?” and I do yet somehow there’s smoke

For home’s not here and the girl in my arms
is the ghost of and flesh of her and I’m
wondering, do memories count, do harm
if something’s gone and love’s found slim

Maybe, if love were always a light rain
to let go and take hold again
