Things weren't better when I was a kid, but they certainly felt like it in some ways.

I wanna throw myself onto the cacti
like in the cartoons I watched as a kid.

I'll be arranged by frame,
drawn malleable, powerful, big.

I'll handle the budget;
the studio's teeming with characters.

I'll do a line up,
sort out persona from caricature.

I wanna throw myself onto the cacti
like those times when I was a kid.

Make other people laugh
by throwing myself off the nearest cliff.

Dust myself off
and prepare for my next gig.

All for those smiles,
those smiles I saw as a kid.
