Flashing City Lights

Colored jewels shining everywhere

Tinting your face

Flickering in your eyes.

Your breath, fragrant

Your smile, beautiful

Your hands, in mine

Standing in the center of the plaza

As the clock strikes twelve

Everyone flowing past and around

Coursing streams of water

But not us.

Not us.

Standing unmoving in the crowds

Frozen like a photograph.

As the slow song plays in the background

I pull you into a tight kiss

We stand, kissing,

Frozen like that.

The slow song covers all the noise

Your face is all I can see among everything.

The slow song, the kiss.

Neon and LED flashing

Against the dark screen of the sky.

Beams of lights gliding in the air

Painting a picture on the black canvas.

Car lights and traffic lights switching

Yellow, red, green.

Commercials on building sides

Brightening up the square.

But I seem to be missing the bigger picture

Because the all that I see and feel

Is you.
