In the near future, after years of civil unrest, America is known as the Divided States of America. Every state is democratically run independently. Certain states have crushed the socially elected system and their leaders have become Dictatorships. The Blackbank Mile is fictional setting in Montana.

What once was Missoula, Montana, is now Scotia City. The headquarters of the state leader Miles Zimmerman. Miles has taken the once dire state of Montana and turned it into thriving society. Import and exports, clean streets, and no homeless. Beautiful, right? Wrong. At the expense of the civilians, Scotia has become a societal prison. People disappearing, a growing Army becoming more predominantly seen, and government officials losing their voices. People living in fear of their leader.

Forty miles away, in the once ghost town of Garnet, is the prison of The Blackbank Mile. Miles opened the town as a place where the criminals and homeless can be trapped. Heavily guarded and surrounded by an invisible electric fence, The Blackbank Mile is a menace to escape. A few select individuals have built a community inside where they can grow their own food, share the things they have, and live in a civil manner.
