Your ghost is the spirit in my glass

The ache that will never pass

But I don't envy him

for you are safely in the past

And though the memory

is like being torn to shreds by shards

He has to live with the insecurity

He has to love you and your roving eye

Your quest to find that perfect guy

Oh, more fool I to forget

The sweetness of your kiss

or the tenderness of your embrace

We're peas in a pod, him and me

And if we were to meet

Would I envy that he has tamed you at last

No! Best to leave it all in the past

I've grown fond of malt and peat

The honey-golden liquid

Is my safe retreat
