Happily wear distasteful, brightly coloured scarves

and loosely fitting, knitted sweaters

and say you love them

because I made them...

Even though they make you look

less refined than most.

Quietly snug up to me

with your crochet blanket

that I made

ten-times too small--

Too short to cover your feet.

Too square to fully encase your arms.

--and say you'll cherish it

because it smells like me

and it helps you cope

when I'm not near.

Entwine your fingers

in homemade headwraps

that smell strongly of argan

and peppermint,

examine them, and realize

they are much too long

to wrap around my crown

only once

or even twice.

Inhale the sweet scent of my head

trapped betwixt the fabric within your

strong hands

and think to yourself,

"She is here when she is not--"
