John was a millionaire. He had slogged it out and made his way to the list of wealthy businessman by means of his hard and smart work. But some of his company policies were rigid. For example, John & Co. is the only company which did not have any referral policy.

The interview for the post of Public Relations Officer (PRO) was on and for the past three months, after many were interviewed, the post was still vacant.

Today, there were five candidates and Mary was the last to be interviewed.

After answering all the questions satisfactorily, Mary told John,"Sir, I have brought recommendation letters from your best friends."

John became furious. "Don't you know that I do not prefer referrals or recommendations in my company?."

Mary replied wisely," Yes Sir, but the job description mentions - that the candidate should have good contacts, handle a team, and be a go-getter. I have got good reviews from all your friends."

The answer made John have second thoughts. He was sure that none of his friends will give recommendation just for the heck of it. He made a wise decision.

"Mary, You are appointed as PRO. You can join the company at the earliest."

The policy was changed and employees can refer their friends or relatives for any suitable vacant post.
