Fall Into Fall

Overnight it seems that summer’s gone,

That it’s packed its bags and left us,

That we’ve fallen into fall

With no notice at all.

The sun, so bright a week ago,

Has lost so much of its strength,

Become an autumnal orb

With less heat to absorb.

Soon we will be layering clothes to keep us warm;

Sweat shirts, hoodies, jumpers fleece,

With the wind and the rain

Attacking us again.

But I won’t mourn the demise of summer,

I’m not a worshipper of that tanner of skin.

A shorter day

Is on the way

And I’ll say

That to me

That’s

Okay.
