A A A

Lapping waves grace

the shore

exactly

where they kissed the sand

a moment before.

The same action, repeated

over

and over.

But

not quite the same, not

exactly.

Every crash, every gentle touch

is getting

closer

to me.

How long

until they kiss me?

How long

until my body

is washed away

Like grains of sand,

inconsequential, unremarkable,

a remnant

of a steadfast mountain

struggling

to

stay afloat?
