Sarcasm at it's finest.

Indeed I pledge

I pledge my allegiance to my country;

To the education system and politics.

To the controversies and mishaps

And to the multiple wars and fights.

And I support those who vote for education,

As I love doing homework for hours on end.

I acknowledge my teachers who give more assignments

Than humanly possible.

I give thanks for a sister with whom I bicker,

And parents to remind me of my chores.

I encourage all those who ask me

What I want to do after high school.

I appreciate all those things I normally take for granted

Like the fake friends and tedious small talk,

Including the unnecessary hug or flimsy handshake.

Not to mention the awkward pauses between topics.

I reinforce those who tell me I’m wrong,

And are always there to correct me.

And those who try way too hard,

As well as their counterparts who do nothing.

I applaud society for creating expectations

Which are hardly ever filled.

And those who tell you that you don’t fit,

As if they ever will.

For this and more,

I indeed pledge my allegiance to the United States of America.
