The Gift of Not Knowing
There is a gift in this not knowing
It is a gift of noticing
Of preciousness
Of searing every shade of life
Every precious memory
Soaking it up
Like a favorite sweet
To be relished to taste
It’s every nuance
To experience the here and now
The being
The who I am today
Knowing I will never know
Who I will be tomorrow
What will be stolen away
By this yet unnamed thief
So my life has taken ion a new intensity
My soul a new thirst for adventure
A longing for what was
Once mundane and passed by
And is now like an expensive wine
Not to be wasted
This life
These colors
Aremine
And will be burned into my memory
In a place that can never be stolen away in my heart
I may not have tomorrow
In the same way I have today
But I will have my noticings of the past
Which I will carry into my future
No matter what it may bring
