As you get older the years seem to fade, you realise that certain stages of your life are finishing; school, moving out for the first time etc. I've got the growing up blues, I've got anger at life. All this time I wanted to be an adult but I didn't realise how precious the innocence of childhood was. 'Over My Shoulder' is an acoustic song that is picked in a light soulful melody, it tells the story of accepting the impurity in the adult world, in growing up, leaving your childhood behind and moving on.

Over My Shoulder

Verse 1

My minds battered and I can't speak, new grounds breaking but I'm all too weak. How can I blame myself when when I'm locked under the eyes of someone else? Everywhere we go there's someone left to say 'hey kid, you better stop and live life my way'

Grey clouds when it's blue, don't feel your truth, just let me be me and you be you. Dark pain and deep cities - I haven't seen the world yet for myself

Chorus

Tell me that I'm sorry (so sorry). Tell me that I need me now. No more back stories, I'm just moving on moving on moving on and it's time

To stop - looking over my shoulder...I'm flying away.

So I better live my life, before I run the times, no more breathing and observing.

Verse 2

Starlit head full of dreams, it wasn't meant to be me, inquisition of the self. I said sorry to the world a long time ago because god rained my ambition in snow. Was the only tenant in my mind wondering how I could turn back time.

I'm sorry mother, I'm sorry brother, that innocence of ours just wasn't supposed to be. I can only accept this place we live in, be fortunate for the times that have been.

Now I'm growing up, growing up - growing up

Chorus

X2

Tell me that I'm sorry (so sorry). Tell me that I needed me now. No more back stories, I'm just moving on moving on moving on and it's time

To stop - looking over my shoulder...I'm headed for the future (oh) I'm headed for the future

So I have to live my life, before my soul runs dry, no more holding back and staying small tonight

So I better take each day, like it's the last I'll see, and remember all the problem-free times.
