They found heartaches drenched in teardrops at their door

They were tied with emotions that they had never seen before,

And when the ribbons, that bound it, were tied true

Then they knew and understood the state of blue.

 

They found greeting cards in grim and faded colors

That boldly stated, that there would not be others,

But they were old and the years had made them fade

Just like those loves that sometimes drift to shade.

 

We start so young, in a blinding rush of hope,

But we drift apart and find that we can't cope.

Did we plan it, this diversion from the plan?

Don't be silly, some have always kicked that can

Down that jagged road of life, through sifting sand.
