"Look back, Jason." I whisper as he walks down my driveway.
He stops at my mailbox, my heart racing. He's going to look back, he's going to come back to me. He... he's just lighting a cigarette.

I remember the last time I saw him. He was wearing his black leather jacket and sunglasses. He;d just gotten back from Toronto and smelled of sunshine and sand. I remember seeing him step out of the airport, scanning the crowd forsomeone... me. I remember running to him with a gigantic smile to leap into his arms, but he was looking behind me, not at me. I stopped, turning to see what you saw, and I felt my heart drop. Some girl walking towards you in a red sundress and black heels. I started to back away, but then you looked at me.
"Amy..." he said with guilt in his voice.
I turned around and walked to my car. As I opened my door I looked back and saw her in your arms.
--
I remember the knock on my door at midnight, me getting off the couch and opening the door. I remember him standing there with the key to our apartment.
"I'll be back tomorrow to get my stuff." he said while looking at the floor.
"What?" I asked, the word cathching in my throat.
"I've met someone else. We're getting married next fall."
I remember him stepping off the porch and walking down the driveway.
"Look back, Jason." I whisper.
He stops at my mailbox, my heart racing. He's going to look back, he's going to come back to me. He stops, lights a cigarette, and turns the corner.
