There's a place he knew in a better time,

There was him and her and love inside.

His face was handsome and hands were strong,

Her heart was full and eyes were young.

They danced to the beat of each other's drums,

And put off sleep till daylight come.

This place was happy, so was he,

Him her reason, so was she.

There's a present not the same as then,

There's been girls and other men.

He's been drinking often when,

He thinks of her and how she'd been.

She's moved on or so it seems,

But he still features in her dreams.

Sees her name and wants to call,

She longs for something, can't recall.

You can cut the cord on love,

But you can't erase all that was.
