Being single isn't easy in a world of competition and moral misconception. It's not what it used to be where two people who go to a nice diner and share a milkshake after a nice burger and fries. You're constantly trying so hard to keep up with the next best thing that we've forgotten how to be ourselves.  It's not exactly easy either when dating has now turned into a guessing game. Does he like me? Should I text him first? Should I let him call me? Should I call him? What ever happen to equality? If two people share a connection, why has it become a pride thing to take the first initial step?

This is why some people settle for that six-year relationship that they're in because even though they're not happy they're comfortable and know what they're getting. Instead of getting to know someone new all over again and everyone knows that in that first year no one is ever really who they say they are. So you have to take another year getting to know the person for who they really are.

We all know commitment can be a scary thing and let's face it no one wants to be tied down to one person anymore. They like to be able to "Explore their options" with a "No strings attach" type of relationship. It's become one of those things that's like we're only seeing each other, but I'm not yours and you’re not mine, but you can't talk to no one else but me! Or, here's my favorite we're not dating we're just two people enjoying each other's company over a nice dinner.

Everyone always wants the role but never the title. Why? Because with the title comes responsibility and no one wants to take on that kind of responsibility. Sure, we can live together, and we can split the bills, and have nice sit down dinners, but we're Not married. I'm not you're husband, and you're not my wife, we just live together. Maybe after ten years, a house, two kids, and a white picket fence we might get married because by then you've proven yourself worthy of being my wife/husband. I mean after all it's just a piece of paper right?

It always goes to show that you should treat others how you want to be treated right? Sure you can make her dinner, run her a bath, message her feet after a long day of work, I mean after all she probably deserves it right? Wrong! You are now considered being whooped to a woman whom you live with but aren't married too. This is where it's gotten complicated for both men and woman because now treating each other with royalty and the upmost respect has now fallen in the "Whooped" category.

What's yours is yours, and what's mine is mine?

Relationships are supposed to be about equality building together and wanting what's best for each other. At least it should be, now it's whatever you came in here with is what you leave with. If I bought this, it's mine. How about equality? We're always going on about how men should work and support the woman and how woman should be able to provide dinner, and a clean home.

Although this would be nice, but then woman get upset because the man doesn't help around the house, so then we flip the scenario around and say "Hey let’s go 50/50" that way it's fair game to the both of us. This also has become an issue as well because now woman feel well if a man can't support and I have to go half on everything I mind as well just take care of myself.

This is turns out to be an unsatisfaction turn around no matter how you look at it. Dating has changed so much throughout the years that it's evolved its own rules. Like there's some kind of special "Little Black Book" that we have to go by when dating. Who knows all the rules to 101 dating anyways right? Just be yourself and you'll find yourself living a happier life. Easier said than done, huh?
