Quiet Is My Friend

There’s so much rushing, so much sound,

The chaos throws me to the ground.

I don’t want to listen to your shout,

It’s hurting me, there is no doubt.

I need to find a piece of ‘hush’

Before my brain just turns to mush.

This constant barrage leads to stress

And with my head it’s going to mess;

I need a break, I need relief,

Some escape from sanity’s thief.

Relaxing is so hard to do

With all the things you put me through;

Silence sometimes I do need

To let the blackness from me bleed.

Sometimes things are just thrown off course

And then me, life does exhaust;

But on one thing I can depend --

That quiet really is my friend.
