Topic: Apathy

You stand there shouting at me, telling me to “care”. Why should I care? Why should I care about others? What do I get out of it? If I worry about other people, if I care, then I’ll go mad. People are crazy and they all think different things. I don’t want to think, I don’t want to worry, I don’t want to care. So I’m telling you to your face and I don’t care if you disagree with me or you “don’t like it”. I DO NOT CARE.  I don’t give a damn. I’m not going to let anything you say get to me. I’m not going to let my guard down for you, not for one bit, not for you, not for anyone. You speak down to me, you want to control me, you want to dictate my life, but you don’t care about me. You haven’t made any effort to do anything other than push me out of your stomach, probably because you hated me being in there in the first place, just like you hate me being here now. You stand there telling me to care? How can I, when you have never taught me to care? Where is the evidence that caring is even going to make one damn bit of difference? I used to care, I used to try, I used to want to please you, and what did you do? You ignored me. You chose work over me. You chose money over me. You left my Dad and chose boyfriends over me. You have chosen everything over me, and I’m the last thing on your list Mother. The only thing ‘caring’ ever got me was heartache. Years and years of heartache. So now I say stuff it, stuff you, stuff caring and stuff everything! I’m not going to care Mother. Afterall, you’ve taught me so well, I don’t even know how to anymore.
