I remember when I thought I didn't need to be afraid

I remember when I'd turn out the light at night

and easily drift away

I remember when a twigs snap was nothing but a breeze

I remember walking happily through the trees

now I've grown way too old

I'm no longer able to sleep peacefully

the darkness makes me afraid

A snap causes a scream

I no longer leave my room

Until the day I die

I remain scared

Now I only remember when I thought I didn't need to be afraid.
