I was listening to some blues and found inspiration there for this here poem (which I'm hoping to make into a song). It's about temptation and lust, and loosing yourself.

You know the rest.

I came down to see her

I knew she was a sinner

She wore her pretty dress

Just to impress

My mind was a mess

Seeing her at her best

And you all know the rest

She saw me as a welcomed guest

Oh now she swings her hips

Her dress snaps and gently flicks

She knows she’s doing it

My heart is lost – don’t ruin it

But we drank the hair of dog

Had a smoke and exhaled fog

This lovely princess dark

She set hot flame to that spark

And you all know the rest

You know the rest don’t you know?

You all know the rest

It was a test – and you all know the rest

She put on a show I couldn’t resist

An irresistible show and you all know

You know the rest

Yeah you know the rest

You see

I used to be a preacher

A highly moral teacher

But then she came around

And I put the good book down

She was stretched out on the floor

Saying “don’t be such a bore -

You know you want something more,

Come ‘ere preacher and make me sore”

Yeah she said “don’t be such a bore

Come here and make me sore”

I threw the bible out the door

And we both fell on to the floor

With the bible out the door

Who knows one sin knows them all

As a preacher now to fall –

God loves the sinners as he made them all

Yeah you know the rest, you know the rest

Don’t you know?

You know the rest – she was the best

She was the beast and you know the rest

She told me I was a welcomed guest

Yeah – a welcomed guest

And you all know the rest

Yeah you all know the rest
