The Rainbows End

“Hi, do you know where the rainbow ends?

I’ve been following it for so long;

Over fields and fences,

Streams and rivers,

Fields,

Roads,

Through gardens,

Through yards.

It’s always there in the far distance,

Doesn’t seem to get any closer,

No matter how far

I step and tread,

Race,

Run,

Jump streams,

Ford rivers.

It beckons me forever forwards,

So far now I can’t turn back

For I’m lost,

Missing,

Weary,

Forgotten and

Misplaced.

I’m never going to reach it now,

It’s fading out of sight,

Disappearing,

Gone,

Dead,

Leaving me

Abandoned.

Now where to turn towards,

Can you tell me now?

There’s no signs

Just

Mist

As I sit and

I wait.

Maybe it will reappear and then

I’ll be up and off once more

With some purpose,

Target,

Aim,

To let me

Fail again.
