A remembrance and conversation in the night. This is the first version of a two-version poem.

As the stars cross the sky, after sunset,

And the summer breezes drift across my face

I will hold you in my thoughts and my heart;

And never shall they leave without a trace.

As the moon rises high to join the heavens

And the comfort of the night calms the day

I remember sweeter times and joyful moments

Before those later years took you away.

When you visit me, in these moonlit times,

And we reminisce about all those years ago

I'll find comfort in the vivid dreams of you

And in that better place, that someday, I will go.

So come visit me in moonlight and in shadow,

Don't be shy; come as often as you can.

And when the end comes, beckoning to me,

I hope it is you that extends a hand.
