My eyes filled with tears. Because this was it. This was really it.

“Ok.” I mumbled, and turned away.

“Wait! Kat, where do you think you’re going?” He reached for me, but I danced out of his way and streaked down the hallway, tears streaming down my face. I shut the bedroom door and grabbed a abandoned bag that had been thrown off the bed many a night ago. In a whirlwind of movements I snatched up items of clothing, and everything I could get my hands on. Alec pounds on the door only made my hands move faster. Wood splintered as the lock gave way, and the door flew open.

I didn’t stop cramming things into my bookbag, and refused to even look at him. His hand, strong and warm grabbed my arm. “What are you doing?”

“I’m leaving.”

His grip tightened, but not enough to hurt. “No you’re not.”

I whirled around. “Yes. I. Am. I’m done... “ I looked into his eyes. “I’m just… done.” Tears started to rolled down my cheeks again.

He stiffened. “You walk out that damn door, you can forget about us.”

I fixed a stare at him. “I’ve been trying.”

He let go of me like he had been burned. “I should have known all of this was a game.”

I glared at him. “I should have known you never loved me.”

Fury filled his face, and I rushed past him. “You know that’s not true!” He yelled after me. I shoved the broken door out of my way and ran as fast as I could away. Away. Away from him, away from all the memories. Footsteps came fast after me. I ran faster, tripping down a few steps. Landing on my side, I scrambled up again, running towards the front door. Alec clamped a hand on my forearm, pulling me to him. He pulled me into his arms, and all of a sudden I felt his lips pressed against mine. I dropped the bag, and wrapped my arms around his neck, heat pouring through my body. He kissed me like he needed me, like he couldn’t live without me. Jerking back he looked at me.

“I’m so sorry. I made a huge mistake.”

I looked up at him, love filling my gaze. “I forgive you.”

“I love you Kat. Always have.”

My lips parted, as my breath caught. “I love you too. Always will.”

He ran his finger across my cheek. “Please don’t ever leave me.”

I laid my head on my favorite place on his chest. “I won’t.”

We sat there for a moment. “Alec.” I smiled. “You were my first kiss.”

He pulled me in for another kiss, this time it was soft and delicate, the opposite from the hunger I felt before. He pulled back and smiled. “And I’ll be the last.”
