Step 1 – Whenever someone starts looking at you in public,

And trust me, this happens a lot,

They will mostly likely approach you and say

How brave you are for being at the fucking book store

So you just smile and shake your head yes.

Step 2 – when everyone else is getting asked to the prom

And you seem to the only one who does have anybody to roll with

Just remember that you are beautiful the best way you know how

And deem you as less than beautiful because of something that is out of your control

But still you should stay home.

Step 3 – when kids in your school start making beeping noises

Every time you back up your wheel chair,

And ask what each button does as if your chair were a toy

And not a fundamental extension to your body

Then just patiently explain that you’re late to class

And once again run away from your problems

Step 4 – When the school of your dreams

Rejects you because they can’t accommodate

Someone like you, then just attend your second best option

Because in this world you will continuously be second best

Step 5-
