Summer’s Back

A short return to summer

Is what we have just had,

The wet and cold of autumn

Had been pretty bad.

We’d gone from having sunshine

And basking in the heat

To rain, heavy and persistent,

Indoors we did retreat.

The wind it picked up good and strong,

It blew everything around;

The gale, it tore down branches

And did so with much sound.

But then about a week ago

The sun gave us a treat,

It came for a fleeting visit

And brought with it some heat.

The chairs went back in to the yard,

They had been put in store,

It was too good an opportunity

So they came outside that door.

It was so unexpected

But that made it so much better --

Today it’s windy once again

And certainly much better.
