Some flowers open in spring

And yield us all with a daily smile

The rest sit longer to wait

Till the spring has left a pile

Those that sprout in summertime

Have us all laughing and jumping

For their scents have a heady chime

And seduce us to roll around in the grime

So after our headaches and sneezes

From pollen enriched hot skies

Look forward to the autumn surprises

Of grasses less greener and dying flies.

Jumping and tramping the rainbow leaves

And smelling the dewing trees

The blossoms of flowers passed

Waiting, enticing the birds and the bats.
