The Internet has become an extremely useful resource that has transformed my life for the better. I rely on the Internet for many things. Without the Internet, I could not learn about a variety of topics in a timely manner, be connected with friends and know about ways to help out my community.
Common search engines such as Google and Bing have created an easy way to answer just about any question I can come up with. This ability is especially beneficial when I am confused about a topic I have learned in school. I am also able to learn about different beliefs and cultures in a timely fashion. However, not everything on the Internet is true, and there is a possibility of believing in false things if one does not research more into it. Unfortunately, some people are motivated to encourage people online to harm themselves or others. There are also websites promoting peace and kindness. It goes both ways and depends on what the person looks into. I was able to recognize the things I was experiencing were symptoms of depression using the Internet, but it was also easy to find ways to harm myself on there as well.
Finding decent friends online is extremely difficult, but I was able to connect with two people who have become my closest friends. Since I have access to the Internet, I was able to find these two people who help me when things become rough. These two people have stayed with me regardless of what was happening in my life. I have also been able to contact preexisting friends online as well, especially through social media.
Many non-profit organizations have websites for self-promotion. Without these websites, I never would have been able to volunteer at an animal shelter and a wildlife center for well over 300 hours. I also would not have been able to sign up to donate blood. There's a chance that I would not have heard of these organization or maybe these organization would not even exist without the Internet. I would have missed out on many valuable lessons and skills that I only have been able to learn by helping animals and hard work.
The Internet has enabled me to quickly learn new things, contact and meet new friends and volunteer. My life has been certainly easier with the Internet, and the Internet has allowed me to many things I would not have been able to without it.
