Do you remember Play-doh??

Doyou remember that sickly smell

That emanated from that goo,

The stuff that was to model with

When it didn’t stick to you.

You could thump it with your hand

And make it go all flat

Then you could pick it up and squeeze it,

Make it back to round and fat.

You could roll it, you could poke it,

You could shape it with a mould,

You could mix up all the colors --

Go on now, just be bold!

You could make so many figures

With which you could then play

And once you had grown tired of it --

Just put it all away!

Now the shops are full of kits,

To make things all for you;

That takes away the fun of it,

I’m sure that must be true.

I sure do remember, and I think the decline of the popularity of Play-Dough and the rise of all the pre-made toys are a symptoms of lack of imagination today!

I was looking through this toy catalogue and there's still pile of Play-doh but it comes in kits with things you just put it in and it does all the creating for you. I think that sort of defeats the purpose, I don't know!!!!
