It was Halloween night. Everyone on the block were throwing parties, all except for one person, his name was Brett. Brett is a tall man, in his early 20s. He’s got brown hair and blue eyes. Brett is terrified of Halloween, so when the day comes along every year, he stays inside with all his lights turned off. He doesn’t put up decorations or even give out candy. Brett was in his room this Halloween, just laying in bed and watching TV, when the news just randomly turned on. “Attention all trick or treaters! There is a killer on the loose! We ask that everybody stay inside tonight.” They showed a picture of the man. Brett immediately turned off the TV and hid under the covers. He then got a call from his girlfriend, April.  “Hey. Did you see the news?” She said, frantically. “Yes, but not all of it. I couldn’t bare to finish it. Is everything okay?” “Not exactly. He’s around my area, I was wondering if I could stay at-” The line went dead. “Hello? April? Hello?” All he could hear was static. Every fear that Brett had about going out during Halloween, had left him. He hung up the phone and quickly started to slip his shoes on, along with his coat. He grabbed his keys and rushed out of the house, forgetting to lock the door. All he had on his mind was April. Hoping that she was okay. As he drove to her house, he got another call. “Hello?” “Hi. Brett?!” “April, are you okay? What’s happening?” “My phone died. Listen, I seen the guy they were talking about on the news. He passed my house!” She said in tears. “What! Did you call the police?” “Yes, they’re on their way right now.” “Okay, good. Stay on the line with me. I’m on my way to your house.” “Please be careful!” She said, crying even harder. “Don’t worry, I’m almost there. Please don’t cry.” “Okay,” she sniffled “Make sure you lock your car doors.” The line went silent again. “Brett? Is everything okay?” Still nothing. Everything was coming back to him...he forgot to lock his front door. “Brett...the police are here. I will call you back, okay?” “April, I have to go back home. I forgot something!” “Okay, just please be careful.” “You too. Bye.” He hangs up the phone and makes a “U” turn back to his house. He drives back to his house, worrying that the killer might be in his house at this very moment. He can’t help but let go and cry as he’s driving back. As he reaches his home, he notices that the front door is open. He stops driving, right in the middle of the road and calls 911. “911, what’s your emergency?” “Hi, my name is Brett Miller. I came home and my front door is wide open.” “Okay, what is your address?” “273 Cedar Street” “Okay, the police are on their way.” “Okay thank you” he hangs up the phone and bravely gets out of his car. “Time to face your fears Brett…no more hiding like a baby. You are a man!” He says quietly to himself, as he takes the first step up on his porch. He reaches the front door and gently pushes it open with his hand. He slowly walks in, trying not to make too much noise. He heads for his kitchen and grabs a knife. He starts heading upstairs quietly and slowly. He lets out a scream, as he sees the killer, standing right in front of him. He runs downstairs, the man after him. Suddenly, Brett hears sirens, he races outside to meet the police. The man tries to run, but the police point their guns at him. “Drop your weapon and put your hands where we can see them!” They handcuff him and put him in the back seat of one of the cars. One of the cops come up to Brett, “You’ve just caught one of the most wanted men in history, Bruce Wilcosky! Thank you. Also, your girlfriend is perfectly safe, in case you were wondering.” He gives Brett a wink and April gets out of one of the cars and runs up to Brett, giving him a big hug. “Are you okay?” She asks him, almost in tears, once again. “Yes, I’m fine. I think I’m gonna face my fear of Halloween and come out every year.” He kisses her head and she smiles. The police leave and imprison Bruce.

2 years pass and Halloween rolls around again. Brett is setting up his house for a massive Halloween party he is throwing. He invited everybody on his block, this year was going to be his year. He was going to throw the biggest Halloween bash EVER...or so he thought.  He turns the TV on to the news and sees the headline, “Bruce Wilcosky on the loose...”
