Dwelling in the cold sanctuary of shadows is a necessity not of one's own making.

Wide eyes of the star crossed dreamer have been obscured by the scarred lens of another.

Brainwashed into denying his true identity, to trust the fables he is fed.

Shackled and subdued, the tiger eventually stops fighting.

Love at its basic level, replaced by prejudice and malice.

Even those sympathetic few were turned against the young prisoner by beauty.

He was expected to perform on an impossible schedule, to an audience never satisfied.

The tiger's only reward was to avoid another lashing.

After years of torment, when it suited his captor, the tiger was encouraged to roam it's domain.

Once freed, the tiger cowered in the depths of his phantom cage, rather than seizing his rightful place in the kingdom.

The young prince grew into a beast unwitting of his power, and incognizant of his place.

Instead the tiger lingered in the dark, waiting for a love that might never come to free him from his misery.

Dwelling in the cold sanctuary of shadows is a necessity not of one's own making.
