They are friends. Intimate friends. He knows about her boring relationships; she knows about his endless, short-lived ones. He is like her male girl-friend, and she is the female buddy. They go out for lunch, coffee, walks, and they talk or text almost every single day.

But they are just friends.

He has somebody else.

She has somebody else.

Today as they are having one of their after-lunch walks at the park, just musing on random things, she looks up at him and notices for the first time how green his eyes are. He looks down at her with a quizzical look on his face, "Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Nothing. I was thinking about something. Sorry." There's no way she's telling him she just noticed the color of his eyes. She knows him too well to tell him something he would think of as weird.

She focuses back on their conversation, and she says something that makes him laugh. She hears his laughter and thinks it's endearing. All of a sudden she feels the need to hold his arm and rub her face on his shirt and just smell him.

She looks down at his left hand hanging on his side, and  marvels at its size. She looks at her own hands, her tiny fingers and realizes his one finger is about equal in size to two of hers! "Whoa! That big!" she thinks to herself.

"Hey! Are you OK? You seem absent-minded a lot today."

"I'm fine!" she says. "Sorry."

She looks up at him again and her eyes are fixed on his full, red lips. "I wonder what those lips feel like," she murmurs to herself.

"What? What did you say?" he asks.

"Nothing."

"Dude, you're weird!"
