“Lunch is ready!” Dex hollered warmly. Carly is already at the table with Chloe so I waited for Mina, Jen, and Roxy and walked with them back to our table. “Where’s Cate?” asked Mina as we sat on the left side of the table.

“She’s there, taking cute guys’ photo” I answered, waving my hand towards Cate’s direction. As if on cue, Cate saw me waving so I mime eating to inform her that we are going to eat now.

“Where is Ana?” Chloe asked while passing the paper plates around.

“I’m here,” Ana said breathlessly, “I explored the rock formation.”

“You shouldn’t have done it,” Dex said warily, “The rocks have sharp edges that can wound you.”

Ana raised her hands in surrender, “I know that now,” as several cuts can be seen in her arms up to her elbows.

“Oh my God Ana, what happened?” Mina exclaimed while Chloe immediately unpacks the medkit.

“Oh, this is nothing. I thought I should check out what’s on the other side of the rockies.” Ana explained, wincing as Chloe disinfect her cuts.

“Was it worth it?” I asked curiously. This what I like about Ana. She’s not afraid to do what she wants, even if it means going against the norm or gaining a few cuts.

“If you want to be alone, then yes. It was peaceful out there. I didn’t get to explore much since we have limited time here.” Ana grimaced. I don’t know if it’s because of the alcohol Chloe put in her cuts or because she didn’t get to explore much. Or maybe both.

“Please, don’t explore on your own. And don’t do anything that’s not in the itinerary.” Dex pleaded looking at all of us. We looked at each other, then carefully concealed our smirks.

“Sure. We always follow the plan.” Carly acquiesced while winking at us. I look at Dex sympathetically. If he expects us to be submissive tourists, well, he is in for a big disappointment.

After Chloe finished patching Ana up, we sat down around the rectangular table. I’m sitting between Chloe and Roxy. Ana, Cate, Carly, and Mina sat on the opposite side while Jen and Dex sat on the left adjacent side. We have steamed rice set in a banana leaf covered bowl, sautéed vegetables, roasted chicken, and fried catfish with something like a hot sauce but with ground chili pepper, shallot, garlic and shrimp paste. Dex called the dish “pecel lele” and the hot sauce “sambal”. There are also bowls of clean water with a slice of lime, which of course Carly confidently told us to be lime water on bowls to be used for drinking. No one believed her since there are also glasses of water on the table. “Those are for washing your hands” Dex explained, shaking his head at Carly. We all laughed and proceeded to eat heartily.

“Guess what?” Cate said while getting some fish. “What?” answered Mina. “Leo invited us to a pool party!” Cate squealed.

“Who’s Leo?” intrigued, Roxy, Chloe, Jen, and Ana asked simultaneously.

“Oh, Lexy and I met him a while ago. He’s the one who asked us if we could take their photo.” Cate said looking at me.

I nodded and said “He’s cute.”

“No, he is gorgeous! His friends too!” Cate grinned.

“I’m in!” Mina giggled.

“Where will it be? Will there be other girls there? Is it safe?” Chloe inquired.

“Relax, Mom. He’s with his friends. They’re doctors. And he has girl-friends, you know there are doctors who are girls too.” Cate replied jestingly. “So, are we all in?” Cate asked, looking at us hopefully.

Everyone agreed excitedly so I have no choice but to agree to go too.

It’s just a party, I thought. You’ll be with your friends Lexy. What could possibly go wrong?
